So, we wrote a book about everything that went into our creation of the Buy Nothing Project, and everything we’ve learned over the past 6 years of stewarding this international movement. It’s your toolkit for bringing the Buy Nothing philosophy to life everywhere you go, no social media required. Our book, The Buy Nothing, Get Everything Plan, will join the world in 7 days and we’d like to celebrate in gift economy style by giving 3 books away each day leading up to our book’s birthday. Our giveaway over the coming week will give you a taste of our book’s 7-step plan to help you buy less, use up what you already have, share more, and live generously.
Our book has something for almost everyone, whether you’re into minimalism, zero waste, maximalism, frugality, or environmentalism. Each day’s challenge will be something you can participate in safely during this pandemic, in your own home with what you have on hand. Here’s an infographic that previews our 7 step program.
We had a book tour planned and were excited to meet up in person with Buy Nothingers this month…Alas, that is obviously not going to happen! So, we’ve created an independent forum here on our website, away from Facebook where people can chat with us about the ideas in our book. Membership is free and open to people around the world. Click here to set up your forum account and join the conversation – We’re looking forward to meeting you there!
Our first 6 challenges will be hosted on the Buy Nothing Project Facebook page, and our final 7th challenge will be hosted in our forum away from Facebook. Join us on on our public Facebook page here tomorrow for our first challenge: GIVE.
Liesl Clark & Rebecca Rockefeller, co-founders and co-volunteers at the Buy Nothing Project
(Details: One book per person, recipients will be chosen randomly each day from the people who offer positive comments and actions to match each challenge, on the appropriate platform. Sadly, books can only be shipped to US mailing addresses, and will come directly from Simon & Schuster when it is safe for them to ship.)
