An Update on Our New App: We’re On It!

Hello Buy Nothing Community,
Last week marked a huge milestone as we launched our newly revised and upgraded app, Buy Nothing 3.0. While we are incredibly excited about the future of this platform, we know the transition has been a bit bumpy for some of you.
First and foremost: Thank you. Your patience, feedback, and commitment to this community are what keep us going. We’ve been listening closely, and our team is working around the clock to smooth out the edges.
Here is a look at the three core issues we’re currently tackling and how you can navigate them right now:
1. Mobile Password Resets
We’re aware of a bug specifically affecting password resets on mobile devices. We have a fix coming in our next release (literally in a matter of hours!), but if you need to get in right now, there is a simple workaround:
The Fix: Use our web app on a laptop or desktop computer to reset your password.
Mobile Pro-Tip: If you're on your phone, you can long-press to copy the reset link from your email and paste it directly into your mobile browser’s address bar.
2. The "Create an Account" Confusion
If you saw a prompt asking you to "Create an Account" and thought, "But I already have an account!"—you aren’t alone. That prompt was a wording error on our part when designing the onboarding process.
Your Data is Safe: Rest assured, your account and history are intact. When you sign in with your existing email, you aren't creating a new account; you're just stepping into the new home we've built for it.
Migration Update: Some data is still migrating behind the scenes. If things look a little quiet, give it a moment—it’s on its way!
3. Location & Distance
We know some of you are experiencing location issues on the Explore page.
The Plan: We are rushing to update the Explore page to be fully geo-referenced which should be done very soon.
What to do now: For the most accurate local experience, head over to your Home Page. Those filters are geo-referenced, allowing you to switch efficiently between your local neighborhood and the global view.
