The big moment is almost here. On January 22, we're officially launching Buy Nothing 3.0. This isn't just an update. We’ve rebuilt Buy Nothing from the ground up – to be more authentic, safer, and more personal. It's a completely new, reimagined home for the 14 million of us across 50 countries who are changing the way the world consumes.

In just a few days, we’re launching the most significant upgrade in our history: Buy Nothing 3.0 - a reimagined, purpose-built platform designed to make your Buy Nothing experience more seamless, safe, and impactful than ever before.
The Buy Nothing Project was born on Facebook, and that is where the vast majority of our community continues to thrive. As we grow and innovate, we want to address any rumors or concerns directly and ensure every one of our neighbors knows exactly where we stand.
Whether you participate on the BuyNothing platform or you’re part of a local BuyNothing Facebook group, your generosity and care for your community are what make this global movement thrive. Since our founding in 2013, more than 14 million people in over 8,000 communities have come together to share freely, with the help of more than 11,000 volunteers worldwide.
What we all know as the social safety net is currently facing new pressures, and the impact is immediate, painful, and felt deeply in every neighborhood. As the US federal Supplemental and Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits and in some states the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) benefits are officially rolled back for millions of Americans, the question for us at the BuyNothing community is simple: How do we respond?
At The Buy Nothing Project, our mission is at the heart of everything we do: We exist to renew the relational fabric of communities through abundance, trust, and genuine connection — by enabling neighbours and communities to give, receive, share, and express gratitude in a hyper-local gift economy where real wealth is found in human connection. In fewer words: Our mission is to change the way the world consumes.
I've always believed in the power of community and the abundance that comes from sharing. But lately, I've seen firsthand how crucial these principles have become in our increasingly challenging world.

Over the last week, I’ve heard from many of you regarding Meta’s decision to end its third-party fact-checking program. I strongly sympathize with your concerns about what this announcement could mean for civil discourse in general and, specifically, for our shared experience on such an important social media and commerce platform.
